Raising kids can be especially tough for emotional eaters, who tend to constantly judge themselves for their negative feelings. When we have feelings we deem inappropriate we usually bury them with food. Then we gain weight…a perfect punishment for the guilt we feel for feeling feelings we think we shouldn’t feel. After all, there’s no better self-administered beating than destructive eating and weight gain. But are our dark feelings, especially toward our children, really so bad?
