Emotional eaters are nice, right? Well, yes, seeing as we’re people-pleasers. But when we stuff strong feelings (like anger) with food, then we end up enraged. But since being angry doesn’t mesh with the nice image we like to present, we must find a new way to navigate the difficult emotion of anger. In this episode, I share about making peace with anger.

Emotional eating is about emotions, not hunger—”a living problem, not an eating problem.”
Why Anger is Hard:
Feels dangerous and unmanageable.
Leads to fear of losing control.
Triggers people-pleasing tendencies (linked to childhood survival mechanisms).
Threatens perfectionist facade and need for external approval.
Food’s Role: Used to suppress anger; heavier foods (sugar/carbs) numb emotions.
Sabotage: Weight loss can resurface unresolved anger, making it hard to cope.
Key Traits: Emotional eaters often struggle with inauthentic “niceness” and suppress anger, leading to resentment and isolation.
